Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy broke down at an event organised by his party JD (S) to felicitate him for becoming the chief minister in Bengaluru yesterday (July 14). He told his party workers that he is not happy as he is heading a coalition government which does not have the mandate of the people of Karnataka.
“You [partymen] all happy because you think that your brother has become the CM. But I am not happy. Only I know what I am going through,” he said.

Kumaraswamy, who has time and again spoken about the difficulties he is facing as the head of this coalition government between The JD (S) and the Congress in Karnataka, said, “I know the pain of coalition government. I have become Vishkanth [God Neelkanth] and swallowing the poison of this government.”
Talking about his difficulties, he said, “I aimed to the CM to not enjoy the power but to solve the problems of the people of this state. I wanted to fulfil the unfinished agenda of my father which was to solve the problems of farmers, daily wage workers and downtrodden people, irrespective of their caste and religion.”
Kumaraswamy had openly stated earlier that he is at mercy of the Congress party for giving him a chance to be the CM of Karnataka. The Congress and the JD (S) joined hands after 14 years in Karnataka to form the current state government. Despite winning only 37 seats out of 222, JD (S) leader Kumaraswamy got the opportunity to hold the post of CM of Karnataka.
